Monday, August 22, 2005 Yesterday Michael wanted to go out and rent bikes, and so did I... after I took a nap. So I sent him on without me and he rode all over the island and saw: a family of deer eating, a barnacle encrusted ship's engine half-buried on the beach, and a lesbian wedding. I was pissed. So I got my bike today and we rode down to the end of the island and frolicked in the waves and waded over to a sandbar. I ordered a pina colada. (It seemed funny at the time.) We saw a creature in the water that Michael identified as a skate, or maybe a ray, and that was cool, but it was no lesbian wedding. Then on the ride back, I nearly died. No traffic accident or anything, I was just tired. When did riding a bicycle a mile along a level road become so difficult? I guess I shouldn't have spent the last month sitting on my butt. This does not bode well for hiking the Inca Trail. Seriously. I hope carrying around a backpack for the next few months toughens me up a bit. We finally set a date for the real start of the trip. Next Friday, September 2, we're getting on our first Greyhound. No more messing around. HOURS ON THE BUS: 0 0 comments so far | Post a comment
